Pairing experienced foster parents with new or struggling foster parents

Stepping into Foster Care for the first time can be overwhelming, that's why the Foster Family Mentorship Program aims to provide support, guidance, and encouragement for new or struggling foster families. ​Foster parent mentors are experienced foster parents who volunteer their time and expertise to support new foster parents. Their guidance is invaluable in navigating the complexities of foster care.

 Mentors offer a range of assistance, including:

• Offering Guidance: Providing practical advice and insights based on personal experience.
• Emotional Encouragement: Offering a listening ear and empathetic support during challenging times.
• Resource Sharing: Connecting new foster parents with relevant community resources and support networks.
• Navigating Challenges: Helping new foster parents understand and address common issues in foster care.
• Building Confidence: Empowering new foster parents to feel capable and confident in their role.​

Mentor Qualifications:

• Willing to lead Mentee spiritually: may include Prayer, Bible Study, Church Attendance, or Basic Discipleship.
• Must be recommended from a source that has insight into you as an effective Foster Parent. May include Project 1.27 staff, placement agency or County Caseworker or Staff, other established foster or biological families. 
• Must pass a background check if you are not currently certified as a Foster Home.
  
• Must acknowledge Project 1.27's Statement of Faith.​​​
