GROUP FOR TEENS WHO'VE HAD INVOLVEMENT
IN CHILD WELFARE

Who: Teens ages 13-18 who've had involvement in child welfare at some point in their lives.
What: A five-weekvirtual group for teens utilizing the Foster Alumni video series produced by Project 1.27 in partnership with Colorado Kids Belong and The Lion Project. There will be an optional group for their adult caregivers that runs at the same time.
When: Monday evenings this fall: September 25th, October 2nd, October 9th, October 16th, October 23rd
Time: 7:00pm-8:15pm
Why: To provide a space for teens to explore the unique aspects of how being involved in foster care impacts identity development in the teen years.
Facilitated by: Alexandra Kuykendall and Kia Gelinas

A little more about our facilitators:
Kia Gelinas is one of the foster care alumni featured in the Alumni Voices video series we will be featuring during our time together. Now a young adult, Kia is teaching middle school social studies in Denver Public Schools.
Alexandra Kuykendall is a mom to four ages 11 to 20. She is the author of a number of books, the co-host of a national podcast, and serves as the 1.27 National Network Director for Project 1.27.
Both Kia and Alex are excited to facilitate conversations for young people around emotions and identity development.
